Immortals: The Redeeming by Jennifer Ashley

This is the fifth book of The Immortals Series. This series is unique in that each book is written by one of three different authors. They are great writers and I have enjoyed reading their stories. The order of the series:

The Calling -Book 1, by Jennifer Ashley
The Darkening-Book 2, by Robin Popp
The Awakening -Book 3, by Joy Nash
The Gathering -Book 4, by Jennifer Ashley
The Redeeming-Book 5, by Jennifer Ashley
The Crossing-Book 6, by Joy Nash
The Haunting -Book 7, by Robin Popp
The Reckoning -Book 8, by Jennifer Ashley, Joy Nash, and Robin Popp.

I have only read books 1-5, but I do recommend them. Also while you could read the stories individually, I would recommend reading them in order. There is a lot going on in this series and it follows a timeline of sorts.

Description (from Amazon): For centuries they have walked among us--vampires, shape-shifters, the Celtic Sidhe, demons, and other magical beings. Their battle to reign supreme is constant, but one force holds them in check, a race of powerful warriors known as the IMMORTALS He is going to take her. And it won't be gentle. After all, the last 700 years of torture and captivity haven't been gentle on Tain. This woman, this half-demon who leaves him burning with desire, is pretty tough herself. She needs to be, for the world is not safe for demon-kind these days. A violent backlash has disrupted the balance of power, and now Tain finds he may have to rescue the dark ones instead of fight them. He feels compelled to protect the alluring Samantha--whether she wants him to or not--but all he can think of is seduction. Ultimately, she'll either destroy him or bring exactly what he needs most...THE REDEEMING

My thoughts: I have been waiting for Tain’s story for a while. He is the conflicted, tortured soul. I really liked this book, but it was not my favorite out of the series. The heat was pretty strong between Tain and Samantha but could have been stronger. I did like the interesting conflict of Tain’s past and Samantha being a demon. I liked the writing style and Jennifer Ashley has a way with descriptive writing that I find very intriguing. I did not like the cover of this book. All the previous books had very nice covers.

Would I recommend this book? Yes I would recommend every book in this series read in order.

Also I read somewhere that this book was nominated for a Prism Award. Congrats to the author!
